Frequently asked questions

  • How much more can I earn if I rent my apartment to you?
It depends on a lot of things, but we include a sample calculation on our website, and we prepare a specific rental offer by filling out the contact form.
  • How do I receive the rent?
In all cases, we pay the monthly rent in advance by the 10th of each month by bank transfer, Since we rent the apartment as a company, we have to pay the personal tax instead of the owner, so we transfer the amount of the rent reduced by personal tax to the owner.
  • Is the contract between HostMate and the owner fixed-term?
Yes it is. In the case of apartments that have been rented for years, we typically sign several-year contracts, in the case of a new partner, we used to recommend a fixed period of 1 year.
  • Why does HostMate only rent centrally located apartments?
On the one hand, there are work organization reasons for this, our colleagues can easily reach the inner districts, on the other hand, it is a really competitive market and location plays a prominent role for guests when choosing accommodation, so we can only manage apartments with a good location profitably.
  • Can I reserve my apartment for my own stay, for example for my relatives?
Yes. Owners can book a stay in the apartments in our portfolio at a discount.
  • Do you rent both furnished and unfurnished apartments?
Yes we do. In the case of an unfurnished apartment, we can also arrange the furnishing. Of course, we rent a well-furnished apartment at a higher rent than an unfurnished one.
  • Who pays the utilities, in whose name is the meter written?
We pay the utilities. Basically, the meters are usually on the name of the owner and the owner charges us for the value of the current invoices in addition to the rental fee, but we are also open to transcribing the meters.
  • How does the contracting process work?
We will send you a rental offer in response to the completed contact form. If the owner accepts this, we can conclude the rental agreement, we can determine the beginning of the rental period, pay the deposit and the first month's rent, and then the keys will be handed over.
  • How much does the owner have to do with this?
In principle, nothing, practically 5 minutes: at the beginning of the month, the utility bills received last month must be totaled and invoiced to us together with the rent.
  • As an owner, can I check the condition of my apartment from time to time?
Yes of course. In the rental contract, we state that the owner can personally check the condition of the apartment at a pre-arranged time each month.
  • Do you rent apartments in average or bad condition?
Basically no. Imagine an apartment that you would like to stay in for a few days trip in a European capital. We are looking for apartments like this.
